How Shift works

Wear a headset, record your everyday work, and earn up to $20/hr with Shift.

If you or your team does real, physical work for a business, wear a headset, record your everyday work, and earn up to $20/hr with Shift.

Shift is not a household-task app. It is for everyday work performed in hands-on businesses.

Who should apply

You can sign up if either of these describes you:

Shift works with cleaning, construction, repairs, maintenance, landscaping, agriculture, electronics repair, automotive, retail operations, and food-service businesses. The application asks about your actual work and where you do it.

What recording involves

Contributors use Shift's recording setup to capture approved work while it is being performed. The footage should show the work clearly and follow the instructions provided by Shift. Personal information, customer details, and other sensitive material should stay out of frame.

Only record work you are authorized to record. Business owners should establish clear rules for participating employees, customers, private areas, and confidential information before recording begins.

How payment works

Shift pays up to $20 per hour for footage. Shift does not promise a particular number of recording hours or a fixed earnings total.

Before you sign up

Be ready to describe your industry, your role, and the hands-on work you actually perform. Students must also work in a hands-on business.

Sign up for Shift and tell us about your work.
